Our flag

The red cross is of Padua where St Anthony worked and the blue shield with five white plates comes from the ancient arms of Portugal where he was born. The white plates represent the five wounds of Our Saviour. Red flames symbolise the power generated at Kriel and the triple-knotted ropes show that St Anthony was a Franciscan.

Formally the blazon heraldry of the Cl41 flag is described as follows:

Quarterly argent and or, surmounting a cross gules an escutcheon azure charged with five plates in saltire, between I and IV, a knotted rope wavy proper; and II and III, a flame gules.
